JIMMY FUND CUP
Graphic Design | NECC | 2015 | Prof. Dyan Gulovsen

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For this project, the class was assigned to design a graphic for a paper cup that would be potentially used at a Jimmy Fund event. The graphic was to be eye-catching, informative in a simple way, and seamless.
PROJECT DIRECTION

It started with a template.

I made many sketches, trying to create an appealing design. I wanted it to be clever, interesting, and eye-catching.
WORK IN PROGRESS

I ended up choosing the design with people growing up and "making milestones happen" as the quote. I wrestled with many different concepts of my chosen idea, and I wanted to convey that the Jimmy Fund assists in people meeting their milestones, and enjoying life as they age.
FINAL ARTWORK

FINAL ANALYSIS

When brainstorming about my design, all I could think of was the concept of milestones. Children, and adults, miss many milestones when they lose their lives to cancer. However, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund make milestones happen. On my cup, I have depicted a sort of "growing up" concept, showing children growing up and seeing their milestones. For example, graduating high school or college. Children battling cancer sometimes will never ride a bike, go to a prom, or have their first kiss. I believe my cup pulls the viewer in, and requires them to follow along with growth of a child. I hope it puts into perspective just how big these life events are to children battling cancer, even if they seem small to those not battling cancer.
